OHSU Give Day is over, but you can still make a gift!
Casey Eye Institute

“OCT scans allow us to catch disease earlier and help us manage treatment so that functional vision can be maintained.”

-- David Huang, M.D., Ph.D.

Changing the way the world sees

The clinician scientists at OHSU's Casey Eye Institute are working to put an end to blindness. That requires accurate diagnosis, timely care and effective treatments. With your help, through its eye health research, Casey can accomplish its mission and preserve the gift of sight for millions.

National and global leader in the effort to end blindness

The OHSU Casey Eye Institute:

  • Is one of seven original eye research centers in the United States to be sponsored by Research to Prevent Blindness, the world’s leading voluntary organization in support of disease-oriented research
  • Is fueled by doctors and scientists who are investigating innovative new ways to treat eye diseases including glaucoma, macular degeneration, inherited retinal conditions, and inflammatory eye disease
  • Houses the world’s largest gene therapy program clinical trials program—patients from around the world come to Casey to participate in trials that can only be found here.
  • Is home to the co-inventor of two revolutionary imaging tools: optical coherence tomography (OCT) and OCT angiography. Both are considered the most important advancements in diagnosing eye conditions in the past century
  • Offers powerful community outreach programs, including free vision screening for preschool children, a mobile eye clinic to serve rural communities, and training for ophthalmologists in developing countries around the world
