The Long Hope Fund - bringing hope to those suffering in silence
The Long Hope Fund is dedicated in honor of Georgia S., who developed Long Covid at the age of 15. The symptoms left her almost completely bed-bound, keeping her from finishing high school and isolating her from friends and loved ones.
Her condition brought to light for her family the plight of countless others just like her who suffer from post-trauma chronic illnesses like Long Covid, chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), fibromyalgia, positional orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), and other ongoing symptoms. These patients suffer in silence, often ignored by the medical community, disbelieved and gaslit even by those closest to them.
Meeting OHSU's Dr. Hope
Met with few resources and a severe lack of knowledgeable medical practitioners familiar with the severity of her symptoms, Georgia spent years with no improvement until she met Dr. Aluko Hope, Medical Director of the Long Covid Clinic at OHSU. His empathy and compassion, combined with a deep understanding of the struggle these patients endure, provided the first real hope Georgia's family found.
A Guiding Light for Patients, with Your Support
Dr. Hope leads OHSU's Critical and Acute Illness Recovery Engagement (CAIRE) program, which provides a guiding light to patients in dire need of support and offers the promise of a real future. Georgia and her family are proud to dedicate themselves to ensuring Dr. Hope and OHSU have the resources necessary to continue this mission. Please support the Long Hope Fund this Give Day and give the promise of a real future to people like Georgia!
Your gift is more important than ever.
